Meat Fondue Recipes


A fondue is a unique and easy-to-prepare dish that can also be used as an accompaniment with meals. The term, fondue, is actually derived from a French word, fondre (to melt). Meat fondues were present since the Middle Ages. Beef, horse meat and chicken were used as the main ingredients. Since ancient days till date, meat fondue recipes have been devised in various ways to create some lip smacking dishes! Meat fondue is also known as Fondue Bourguignonne. Such dishes are also accompanied with a variety of sauces. Use these easy-to-prepare recipes and whip up some delicious delights at home.

Recipe 1

Ingredients
Oil (vegetable or peanut oil)
Beef tenderloin

Preparation
First, trim the fat and cut the beef into inch pieces. Then, blot the same with the help of a paper towel and place it in the fridge. Meanwhile, heat some oil in pan. Once heated, place it in the fondue pot and ensure it is filled to at least half the level of the height.

Then, with the help of a fork, place beef chunks in hot oil. Cook the beef for at least a minute if you want it well done. Once done, remove the same with the fork and place it in the plate. Serve this fondue with sauces as per your choice.

Recipe 2

Ingredients
Vegetable oil (15 ml)
Water (8 cups)
Beef bouillon cubes
Garlic clove - crushed (1)
Onion - finely chopped (1)
Tomato - finely chopped (1)
Salt (1/2 tsp)
Bay leaf (1)
Red wine (1 cup)
Freshly ground pepper (1/2 tsp)
Celery stalk - finely chopped (1)
Thinly sliced beef - dipping (150 g)

Preparation
Take a large pot and warm some oil in this. Next, add the onion and garlic in it till it turns soft. Follow this by adding the water and let the water come to a boil. Now, add the beef bouillon cubes to this preparation. Meanwhile, lower the heat. Now, add the vegetables along with the spices and stir in the wine. Then, cook the same on low heat for about 3 hours. Keep a check at regular intervals and keep adding water as needed. Once done, filter the broth and place it in the refrigerator. Before you serve the same, remove the fat that has hardened on the surface area and warm up the broth. Pour the same into a fondue pot and adjust the heat accordingly. Then, roll one piece of beef on the fondue fork and cook it for few minutes till it turns tender. Repeat the procedure to enjoy the taste of this meat fondue broth.

Ingredients
Soy sauce (3/4 cup)
Garlic cloves - minced (2)
Worcestershire sauce (1/4 cup)
Beef tenderloin - 1 inch cubes (2 1/2 pounds)
Pork tenderloin - 1 inch cubes (2 1/2 pounds)

For the Horseradish Sauce
Sour cream (1 cup)
Vinegar (1 teaspoon)
Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
Pepper (1/4 teaspoon)
Prepared horseradish (3 tablespoons)
Chopped onion (1 tablespoon)

For the Barbeque Sauce
Brown sugar (2 tablespoons)
Vegetable oil (8 cups)
Tomato sauce (One 8 ounce can)
Steak sauce (1/3 cup)

Preparation
First, take a large sized plastic bag that can be resealed again and place the meat, soy sauce, garlic and the Worcestershire sauce in this bag. Seal it and place it in the refrigerator for 4 hours. You can also keep turning it at regular intervals.

Take a small-sized bowl and combine all the horseradish ingredients. Cover the same and place it in the refrigerator. Next, you can combine tomato sauce, brown sugar and steak sauce in yet another small bowl. Cover and place this bowl in the refrigerator.

Meanwhile, drain and discard marinade and pat the meat dry with some paper towels. Heat around 2-3 cups of oil in a single fondue pot. With the help of fondue forks, cook the meat in the oil as per your requirement. Serve the same with the barbeque and horseradish sauces.
