Make Organic Vegan Nutella Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

By Stephen Howard

It's great to eat healthy food, and it really affects your general health condition. Well, it is also nice to have something sweet, and, if you are vegan, it's not always easy to find really delicious sweets to enjoy. Luckily, you can make some in your own kitchen, and here you can find one ridiculously simple and easy recipe for amazingly tasty spread you will just love.

Let's start with the ingredients. For this delicious organic vegan nutella chocolate hazelnut spread you need only a few basic ingredients, depending on the recipe of your choice. If you don't mind using dark, dairy-free chocolate, the things will be even simpler. Besides that, you need a good food processor or a really good blender.

Smoothie maker is much faster and gets better results than usually used blenders, but most food processors are also good for this purpose. This recipe uses four cups hazelnuts and two cups dark chocolate, but you can use different ratios if you want. Molasses is added for sweetness, because it gives richer taste, but maple syrup is also great for this, it is up to your taste.

Nuts should be roasted first, to release the oils. For this purpose, preheat the oven on 175 degrees Celsius and roast them for ten to fifteen minutes, shaking the pan once or twice. Prepare kitchen towels and put warm roasted nuts on. Cover with another towel and roll with your hands to remove the skin. Use clean towels to repeat this.

Now, it's time for your food processor. Start slowly and blend until nice and creamy hazelnut butter is formed. Add melted dark chocolate and continue blending, adding some molasses, or some maple syrup, if you want it to be sweeter. Just remember that the spread will become harder when you add liquid ingredients. And that's basically it.

Of course, you don't have to use melted chocolate if you prefer cocoa. Use the cocoa instead, but keep in mind the spread might be less creamy in this case. The easiest solution is to combine cocoa powder with very small quantity of hot water before adding it to your blender. In this case, you will probably need more molasses or maple syrup to sweeten your spread.

When you use organic cocoa in your recipe, enrich your mixture adding some good quality molasses and a little spoon of vanilla extract. Blend all the ingredients together and put it all in one large jar. You can keep it all in the fridge for a few weeks, although, it is so good it probably won't last so long. Just try not to eat it all at once.

There are also a few interesting ideas for improving your recipes. For example, you could boil some cloves and a cinnamon stick in a few spoons of water first, and then use this water for your cocoa powder. You could also use fresh orange zest and squeeze a drop or two of orange oil into your blender, just to spice up your lovely spread. Experiment and enjoy.
