Buttery Sweet Potatoes
For this recipe, what you need are medium-sized sweet potatoes, a fork, paper towel and just 12 minutes for cooking time.
  • First, wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly by placing them under running water.
  • Clean the sweet potato eyes to remove any dirt attached to them.
  • Lightly scrub skin and remove woody parts and bruised portion (if any).
  • Punch them several times with a stainless steel fork.
  • Place the sweet potatoes on a microwave-safe plate and cook on high for about 6 minutes.
  • Turn the sweet potatoes and continue to microwave for another 6 minutes.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper to the cooked sweet potatoes and serve with cinnamon and butter.
Sweet Potato Chips
For preparing sweet potato chips in the microwave oven, you need to have a sharp knife for making thin potato slices. This method requires a 10 minute preparation time and 5 minute cooking time. In the meantime, you could also have a look at this microwave baked potato recipe.
  • Wash the sweet potatoes, rubbing more over the eyes to remove dirt.

Sweet Potato and Honey

  • Wash and clean the sweet potatoes thoroughly. To allow moisture evaporation, prick them with a fork or with the tip of a knife.
  • In a microwave safe plate, cook sweet potatoes on high for about 6 minutes.
  • Turn them and microwave the remaining side for another 6 minutes.
  • Allow the baked sweet potatoes to cool down and cut them into half longitudinally.
  • Scoop out the cooked pulp, while keeping the shell intact.
  • In an electric mixer, add pulp, honey, ginger, cinnamon, pepper and salt and blend the mixture for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the mixture into the sweet potato shells, cover them and microwave at high setting for 3-4 minutes.
  • Serve this with margarine and pecans.
